Medion has finally put on the marker the Akoya Mini laptop which was showcased previously at Computex. What I don’t understand is why they made it available in Austria at Hofer but this shouldn’t be a problem if you decide to visit Vienna this summer.

The Akoya Mini features an 1.6 GHZ Intel Atom N270 processor, 10-inch LCD screen, an 80GB hard-drive and 1GB of RAM. So if you would like to buy the mini notebook than you will have to pay €399 (that’s about $628).

Personally, I really like how iPhones and iPods are looking, but I also agree that you have to “protect” them from scratches or other kinds of damages therefore you have to cover them up in cases. Most of the cases on the market are really ugly, but Fabrix came up with some cool sleeves which fit perfectly the style of Apple’s products. Each of the cases cost $21.90 and according to the manufacturer, they are also perfect for the 3G iPhone.

Everybody knows that the wind is an incredible source of power therefore researchers are trying to find new ways of producing energy using its force. One great project is BroadStar’s AeroCam which is a very powerful micro-turbine that spins on horizontal axis to allow its blades to intuitively track wind’s path.

These micro-turbines are the first that will reach the $1/watt cost therefore BroadStar is looking to integrate them in wind farms for rural and urban use. Thanks to its great design, AeroCam is easy to manufacture, transport and to be installed therefore the costs are lower than any other turbines.

For about $250,000 you can build a 250kW system that works…

The Cloud is made of carbon glass, it measures 13-foot and contains about 65km of fiber optics. Pretty impressive, huh? Well, you will be more impressed when you’ll hear that it senses human movement thanks to hundreds of sensors and it allows people to interact with it by touching it.
