I think everybody knows that there is a worldwide financial crisis out there, however, nobody was concerned about the Internet economy. We all wondered what would happen to the automotive industry, banking, electronics, and others, but you should know that the Internet will also be affected by the worldwide downturn. According to the Paris-based Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, the Internet economy will drop as “with the outlook for the global economy worsening and business and consumer confidence plummeting, growth will remain flat or decline in 2009.”

The OECD report shows that the IT industry will grow with 4% this year with software, outsourcing, and infrastructure will “weather the storm…

It can be difficult to find a cell phone owner’s name when all you have is the number flashing on your caller ID. Fortuitously, it’s fairly simple to track down a cell phone owner with the help of a reverse cell phone lookup service online.

Offered by a variety of different websites, reverse phone lookups can help you connect the unidentified cell phone number with the account holder’s name in case you’re receiving unwanted or obscene phone calls. Each of these cell phone number trace services is fairly simple to use. All that is needed is a ten digit number which you should plug into the search feature and press enter, within a…

One of the biggest mystery in the Universe is the so-called dark energy. Scientists and astronomers don’t know exactly what it is, only that is dark and that is something like an energy. However, thanks to the advance in science, astronomers managed for the first time in history to clearly see the effects of the dark energy on Galaxy clusters.

The astronomers spotted the effects using NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and they put together a theory of what dark energy could be and what’s the destiny of the Universe. This is a result of years of hard work and according to the scientists, it’s different from other dark energy-related research methods…

Thought to be around 12 billion years old, Omega Centauri is a grouping of stars called a globular cluster, sparkling at a magnitude of 3.7 and seeming to be as large as the full moon on the southern night sky. Although it is visible with the unaided eye from a clear and dark observing site, you are guaranteed to get a much better and amazing view through even a modest amateur telescope at this incredible cluster of densely packed glittering stars.

Omega Centauri has been observed throughout the years both by the great astronomer Ptolemy as well as Johann Bayer, but the two labeled the cluster as a star. Much later,…

One of the major drawbacks of wind generated power, the transfer of energy from remote and rural areas to populated ones, is soon to be overcome! Electricity will be generated on the spot even in urban areas with the help of Dr. Majid Rashidi and his helical wind towers.

No longer will off-shore and rural areas be the only place where wind power is generated, says Cleveland State University professor Dr. Rashidi, urban centers will also be able to harness the wind.

Even though the classical wind turbines are still more efficient, the urban spiraling towers are expected to still have a power generation ratio of 4:1, meaning that one tower…

Genetically Modified Microalgae Could Produce Biofuel

Biofuel is regarded as a cleaner alternative for fossil fuels, and cleaner is better therefore researchers are looking for new ways to “harvest” biofuels. According to a team of researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, unicellular microalgae could be used to produce biofuel thanks to a technique that consists of genetically modifying these organisms.

The UC researchers believe that microalgae are “too green” and with little adjustments, we could produce tons of hydrogen and hydrocarbons. In order to make such big amounts of biofuel, the scientists tested the micro-organisms by minimizing the number of chlorophyll molecules used to harvest sunlight without interfering or damaging the process of photosynthesis.

During their study,…

Everybody is waiting for the Macworld Expo 2009. I don’t know why, but it seems to me that Apple really knows how to draw the attention, and I am sure that they have one of the best marketing team in the world as all geeks (including me) are waiting for them to release something even tough it’s not so good. Just think of all those people who spent big money to buy the first-gen iPhone which wasn’t that great.

Well, the Macworld is coming and as you noticed people already started talking about it months ago. They are expecting something new from Apple, and the most likely newcomer could be a…

Something that I hate the most are unwanted emails which are best known as spam. Although we have many computer security vendors, somehow hackers manage to develop new and better ways to take over people’s computers and to infect them with viruses.

Infected computers are then used to create the so-called botnets which are used to attack even more computers. The botnets are also used to send delusive sale pitches to email addresses and leaving the people unaware of what they are about to do.

“Every year we see threats evolve as criminals discover new ways to exploit people, networks and the Internet,” says Patrick Peterson, chief security researcher at Cisco.

Also, according…

Here is an unusual product which I think we never presented, but is indispensable in a household - a washer. Is called Hotpoint WMD960P 1600 rpm Ultima Washing Machine with 8kg load capacity and with “A” rated wash which means that is has high energy and spin performance. This washer is great because it also features a LCD display, although it’s really tiny and you cannot watch multimedia using it.

Other than that, it does what a washing machine does - it washes cottons at 90, 60, 40 degrees C, synthetics at 50, 40, and 30 C, wool at 40 C, silk at 30 C, and bath and bed at 60…
