While out testing the very stylish Aston Martin DB9 Volante in the Santa Cruz Mountains recently, we ran across the car’s opposite, a Mercedes-Benz F-Cell research car. We caught up with the F-Cell (easily) and followed it to a vista point, where we cornered its driver and started grilling him about the car. It’s not often you see the future of the automobile out in the wild like this.

This F-Cell was from the first generation, built into Mercedes-Benz’s A-class platform, a small vehicle that’s not sold in the U.S. Its 5,000-psi hydrogen tank feeds a fuel cell that produces electricity, in turn powering an 87-horsepower electric motor.

Gamers and geeks, step aside. It’s Mom’s turn to jump on the gaming bandwagon. On Monday, Nintendo announced a new DS Lite bundle, clearly tailored to the interests of middle-aged women.

At the usual $149.99, the bundle includes a lime green console, a matching carrying case, and Personal Trainer: Cooking. Those who tend to buy into gender stereotypes can already preorder the bundle just in time for Mother’s Day on Amazon. Don’t forget to add on My Weight Loss Coach and Imagine: Babyz while you’re at it.

In the past couple of years we’ve seen a Nintendogs bundle for kids, a Brain Age bundle for the old timers, and other age-specific packages…

Everybody chuckled when Tellme, a mobile voice company snapped up by Microsoft almost two years ago, released its smartphone voice search application for BlackBerry, instead of for Windows Mobile. Thanks to a new native application that will be released on Windows Mobile 6.5 phones this coming fall, the ribbing may entirely subside.

On Wednesday, Tellme announced the application’s features and its shipping plan. Like rival voice services for smartphones, you click a hardware hotkey to initiate the program’s digital ears, and from there you can begin a search, call a number, or dictate a text message. This last feature will be new to Tellme’s Windows Mobile app.

Tellme’s application will offer more…

There have been a lot of resources that have surfaced to help track the newly spreading swine flu.  Tuesday night, Facebook released some interesting data on the conversations taking place around the swine flu outbreak. The company has posted a photo album on Facebook’s official fan page, containing images that detail the growth of the discussion as well as the geographical distribution of people talking about swine flu.

As this image shows us, there is a wide range in the percentage of people talking about swine flu in wall posts from state to state. Texas has 0.82 percent of its Facebook users mentioning swine flu, while Mississippi only has 0.29 percent.…

She has the eyebrows of a Roman Emperor. She has the square shoulders of one of his centurions. And she walks like a bouncer who had one too many years in the NFL.

When Susan Boyle stepped onto the stage of “Britain’s Got Talent” this past weekend, the audience laughed and the judges could barely stop their cheeks from bulging through a guffaw.

Here was a self-confessed, never-been-kissed, unemployed 47-year-old Scotswoman who, when she saw herself on television, said she was mortified that she “looked like a garage.”

She told the judges she wanted to be a professional singer. Simon Cowell (yes, he) looked like he wanted to ask her to clean his…

The latest version of Facebook for BlackBerry released earlier this week with a handful of practical, if not flashy, feature enhancements to partially merge your Facebook profile pictures with your BlackBerry address book, and to add your Facebook events to your native BlackBerry calendar.

Turns out, many users experienced calendar screw-ups that caused Facebook’s calendar to cannibalize the native one. In addition, the contact-syncing feature, while handy, irritatingly was sending a phone number request to those Facebook buddies you have manually associated with a BlackBerry contact. For the record, the calendar syncing issue didn’t affect our Curves tied into a corporate policy.

RIM has been quick to reissue the app with fixes.…

Businessmen nowdays are very picky, which is why Lenovo is working on a ThinkPad-branded netbook, that is good news for everyone.

Their “Worldwide Competitive Analyst” says that they’re exploring the area (of course), and that people should “watch this space”, meaning that they’re going to be making one. There’s no other reason for him to say “watch this space” unless he was just being samart, in which case you should watch THIS space, if you know what I mean.

Intel has made ten predictions for technology in the next ten years.

“Predicting the future of information technology especially on a ten year time scale, can be a perilous business,” said Intel technical marketing manager Steve Cutler, speaking at a Press/Analysts day in London.

“One of the defining characteristics of IT is a rate of change that is so fast it is unmatched in any other area of human endeavour - both today and historically. Yet it’s fair to say that the next decade is set to drive even more far-reaching and potentially radical changes.

  1. New classes of portable devices with ten times more battery life
  2. Low-cost silicon photonics for faster, more reliable data…

If you want to pack everything you need in order to get the most out of your favorite iPhone, iPod, as well as iPod Touch, than the E-Pod is the thing for you. The gadget includes a speaker, a movie projector and an alarm clock. All those features are stuffed accurately into a well designed device. Don’t be fooled by the small size of the E-Pod (resembling a custom alarm clock), in reality it provides a rather powerful hi-fidelity audio.

Probably the most impressive thing within the gadget is the projector. However, there’s yet no additional information on the E-Pod. Via Infoniac
