Finally, a company that gives enough care about the environment to produce a cellphone that is environment-friendly without sacrificing its performance. As part of Sony Ericsson’s advocacy to create something without necessarily compromising the product’s quality and the environment, Sony Ericsson released a couple of Greenheart pioneer products.

The two handsets on parade today are the C901 Greenhear (shown in picture) and the Naite Greenheart. The flagship C901 has an electronic, in-phone manual that does not use the traditional paper version, which reduces the need to use paper products. This move looks like it will save 90% paper products, reducing the environmental impact of cutting trees to produce these gadgets. The C901 Greenheart handset uses 50% recycled plastics while the optimized display light censor will also reduce your carbon footprint.

The Sony Ericsson C901 Greenheart also has a WalkMate application, which will enable you to see the exact number of steps you take while you walk and talk. It would then show you the carbon dioxide emission you have saved from releasing whenever you walk instead of driving.

I’d be an advocate of this handset and say that everybody should take a look and buy one of these. We’ve been in the age of technology for far too long, and we have reaped its rewards… but that’s not to say we’re not going to see how it will come back to us in the future. Remember, take care of the environment and it would take care of you. More companies should follow Sony Ericsson’s footsteps and produce eco-friendly products like the Greenheart phones.
