Announced at the Mobile World Congress, the new Samsung Blue Earth cellphone has finally arrived. Surprisingly, this line of mobile phones from Samsung is made from old water bottles, and the packaging is paper-printed with soy ink. In fact, can you imagine how eco-friendly Samsung is that it even extended its Earth-friendliness by giving the mobile phone a mere 0.03-watt of energy when it’s on standby?
But don’t be fooled into thinking that it will not have the usual features a middle-end Samsung phone will have. The Samsung Blue Earth has a 3.2-megapixel camera, touchscreen display, music and video players, FM radio, Bluetooth, 3G connectivity and a microSDHC slot.
And it also has the “eco-walk” function of the pedometer, which “allows users to count their steps with a built in pedometer and calculate the reduction in CO2 emission realized by walking as opposed to using a motor vehicle.”
I still don’t have an idea on how much it will cost, but I’m betting that you will have to shell out a few extra bucks for this one (just like with any other eco-friendly gadgets out there).
