T-Mobile's Samsung Highlight: Cute, Toy-Like Touchscreen Dumbphone

The new T-Mobile’s Samsung Highlight has a touchscreen display that is especially focused on what teenagers like today. It’s cute backgrounds and themes add to that youthful look Samsung is trying to reinvent with the Highlight.

This cutely designed Samsung phone has a 1.61 x 2.64-inch capacitive display with a few hardware buttons at the side. It has a 3MP camera with video recording, a microSD slot (located under the battery) and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, which brings a few widgets like Facebook, weather, etc.

The T-Mobile’s Samsung Highlight comes in two colors—“Fire” and “Ice”—and will retail for $150 sometime in July.

I want one and have looked everywhere. I can’t find it. I’m so sad. I was going to add my boy and give him my old phone but since I can’t find it…I’m not doing it. I’m so sad!! :0( And T-Mobile’s site leaves so much to be desired. I just can’ t find it. Boo!! oastco was going to give it to me for $10 to add my boy. Oh well; I’ll keep the same old phone thaq I’ve had for ears now and not add him. =(

I have this phone. Same color, too, because it matches my laptop perfectly! I got this phone when I was 19, and not because I was a teen. I got it, actually, because it doesn’t have many buttons! I’m hard on phones and the buttons fell off of every other phone I had. So I got this, thinking that there is nothing for me to break off! It’s very durable; I’ve dropped it who knows how many times and it hasn’t given me any problems. The break-away case that I have for it helps a lot, too.

I love this phone. It’s just fantastic. It’s so easy to use, and it’s great touch-screen phone for people who aren’t very technology-forward like myself. I don’t have internet on it yet (not that I was necessarily looking for internet because I have a laptop), but it’s still great. I love how the touch-screen is pressure-sensored and not heat-sensored like other touch-screen phones (such as the iPhone), and that makes it very easy to type phone numbers and messages with nails. Because of this, though, it’s a good idea to have a screen protector. It’s customizable and very stylish, too, with all the fun of a smartphone in an simple, user-friendly format. I like the stow-away quick-start menu on the side of the screen that houses several apps, such as weather, calendar, music player, pictures, video, inbox, Telenav turn-by-turn directions, and the web. You can move them around, or hide the ones you don’t want. You can also drag and drop the apps from the side menu to the main screen, or vice-versa. It’s got a nice 3 MP camera with photo-editing tools, too. The other thing I think is really cool is that the screen saver cycles through several pictures, so it’s always different. I know it’s not important at all, but I still love that it does that. All in all, I’d recommend this phone to anyone, teen or not.

One other thing: T-Mobile removed the MyFaves from their phone plans, but if you ask them, they’ll be more than happy to put the circles on your phone so you can use them as a speed-dial. That’s what I did. It’s just a little time saver, because no one likes scrolling through contact lists.
