Before I begin, for your information, myTouch 3G is also known as the HTC Magic in some parts of the globe. This smartphone will come in a sleek body with a contoured feeling. It has a wide range of features. Yes, cool new features that about everyone within a 20-mile radius will drool with excitement over.
There’s a full touchscreen display and virtual keyboard that will enable you to check and compose emails and text messages with a few flicks of your fingertips. The myTouch 3G is an Android-powered handset that will empower you to create menus, wallpapers, icons and so much more. The phone has a 3.2” HVGA touchscreen display and virtual keyboard, which can go either landscape or portrait mode.
The myTouch 3G packs with it a 3.2-megapixel camera (without flash, sadly). But it also has a music player, microSD memory card slot, video playback, email, MMS, WiFi connectivity and support for T-Mobile’s 3G network.
If you’re a current T-Mobile subscriber, you can place an early order for the myTouch 3G from July 8 onwards for $199.99 with a two-year contract. For more info check Geekcellulars.com

that worhtless little expensive peice anit that tight not new fetures forreal shi!
Y don’t u people make these new phones with flash on the camera???? I have a g1 and I mean one would assume that if they’re spending 400.00 on a phone it should have EVERYTHING!!!!! Come on, the cheap little free phones have a flash and u mean to tell me dat I have a full accessible internet, camcorder and hundreds of other great features but can only take pictures in perfect lighting?????!!!!???!!! Help ME 2 understand please cuz dats foolish.
Existing t-mobile customer never get any real good deal…. Y is that??
what is the cost please
haha everyone is retarded and can’t spell or write. The phone looks pretty good though. I’m excited.
i have the behold now. should i get this new phone or keep mine?
It look good, but if i upgrade my plan how much will it cost
It look look good, but if i upgrade how much will it cost
hey good looking phone so whats soo special about this…. memory with a micro sd l.m.a.o the the iphone 3gs has a 32gb with a lot of apps. what a waste of time u guys need to top and beat the iphone sadly but true
useless without a freakin’ qwerty keyboard. how is this an upgrade? shiet nikkadawg.
So to those who think this phone is great, well it is. I work in the mobility industry and this phone is nice. It has all the features that one would need and has a faster processor. The only down fall to the phone is that it has no flash. Other than that, it seems to be a good phone. It has a nice grip to it and the black one is very sharp looking. I know the two year price of the phone is $199.99 with a new 2 yr agreement or upgrade. If not either of those two, the phone itself will be $399.99 outright.
Oh this is so much better than the IPHONE!!!!
I have g1 is this phone better than the g1
i want one. but i don’t want to pay full price for it, if im a customer already!!!!!! thats f**ing stupid!!!!! exciting clients shouldn’t have to pay more! and to apply for an upgrade your contract has to be almost up so that u pay way less for the cell to restart your 2 yr contract!?!?!!!! come on now……….. like i said wtf!
so is this better than the iphone 3GS?
I agree with chassidy. All these great features and no flash for the camera? Come on now. What sense does that make. Yes the phone looks psomising and I’m sure most t-mobile customers will be getting it soon as it comes out. But seriously, I’ve been looking for a phone with a flash and these less advanced have it but the more advanced ones don’t. All in all though I will say that I will be getting this phone when it hits the stores. Though I like my phone I currently have now I’ve been wanting to upgrade for a while now. Was going to get the t-mobile wing but seeing this phone has peeked my interest.
And I am hoping that it won’t cost as much. Especially with me being an existing customer. I am also wondering if I do purchase teh phone will I have to add the data package with it in order to use the phone to make calls. The G1 is useless unless you have that data package, from what I heard.
I wanna know how much it’s going to wit a full upgrade and if I already a the g1 will it be cheaper
Jerome R. Yeah you do have to get the data plan and they’re pretty expensive. If I want the unlimited text/pictures it would cost me 34.99 a month plus to get the cheapest airtime plan with unlimited nights/weekends would cost I think 29.99 (300 mins) and 9.99 for the hotspot calling. I do believe this phone has wiFi calling which means it’s unlimited minutes as soon as your connected to the internet. Those who complain about not having a flash, remember it’s just a phone not a camera. Its just an extra perks. My Nokia 7510 has the flash and I do agree that it’s odd for the “lesser” phones have them and not the PDA/Smartphones. Maybe it has something to do with battery life since PDA/Smartphones aren’t the best in that department.
Yeah need to stop the bs all ya doing is ripping people off ya make a duplicate of the g1 that’s exactly wwhat it is and then you keep everything the same no flash on the camera stupid no zoom on the video recorder nor camcorder crazyut yet its a 400 dollar phone stop the madness
I am an existing customer. Been with T-mobile for over 5 years.. and this is what I get? I’m allowed to pre-order on July 8? Wow, lucky me *rolls eyes*. Then you’re asking me to pay 200 bucks on a 2 yr contract, or $400 without. And for a phone without flash. Uneffing believable!
So many of us are loyal T-mobile customer. Yall should show us some appreciation and give us a better deal.
lessee now. mytouch vs g1. right off the bat, i’m not all that excited about this unit. i have a g1 the only improvements i see on the mytouch is really not worth a whole new phone.
improvements:
touchscreen WITH handwriting recognition - its been my experience that there’re 2 types of touchscreens: lemme call them touchscreens and tapscreens. the tapsreen requires a stylus or a sharp point to operate and a touchscreen apparently needs a warm finger to operate. by nature, touchscreens can execute smoother scrolls and are capable of multi-touch, however cannot do something precision-based like handwriting recognition. i really wanna see how htc integrated the two. btw, this is all speculation based on the phones i’ve owned so feel free to correct me if i’m wrong.
hscsd support - never had it in my previous phones. prolly wont miss it. just noticed the g1 doesn’t support it while mytouch does.
bigger standard battery - 1150mah to 1340 mah
double the memory - rom from 256mb to 512mb, ram from 192mb to 288mb.
overall size - a little smaller and lighter than the g1
audio playback support - mytouch supports ogg and something called aac-lc that the g1 doesn’t
video playback support - my biggest disappointment with the g1 was its lack of video support. mytouch claims to have 3gp and mp4
support for ms exchange - lack of it on the g1 never bothered me but it seems to be an issue considering all the complaints across the g1 forums.
an earpiece! - my g1 didn’t come with an earpiece but that’s prolly just me and i don’t need it anyways.
other than that, they both have the same screen size and resolution, same processor (actually the mytouch seems to have downgraded from a qualcomm msm7201a to a 7200a but i don’t know the specs on each processor so *shrug*), same gsm frequencies, same camera, same cupcake operating system… and NO PHYSICAL KEYBOARD: one thing that i love about the g1.
anyhow, once again, i’m not saying the mytouch isn’t better than the g1. it’s just the upgrades don’t seem to jusify getting a new phone.
I ahve a g1 and i am not mistaken the g phones where to have a keyboard. so i dont think this phone is even worth it. Id rather keep my g1 than upgrade to a virtual keyboard……. how much is to upgrade? lol
i luv this phone i wish i could get it and marry it!!!
come on people so what if it doesnt have a flash?…its still nice..and if u dont like it then dont buy it nor waste ur time admiring it!!!
just saying..
You people complaining about getting the My Touch for 199 if you are already a customer are effing ridiculous. It is a hell of a lot better than paying 400 for it and so what if it extends your contract 2 years, if you are planning on changing cell phone companies soon then you shouldn’t be trying to get a T-Mobile phone in the first place. Sheesh.
you guys are ridiculous. why are you complaining about flash? it wont make you look any better and the price. if you cant afford it then dont get it.
I’ve been w/ T-mobile for almost 3yrs now & I think this is T-mobile’s BEST phone releasing it looks soo Coo! just the look of it makes ur mouth water……Plus the fact that its going to have the 3G capabilities and so much more is ganna be awsome So it looks like T-mobile the Dominator of all Cell Phone Company’s has done it yet again and is ganna bring us the “My Touch 3G” phone of a life time, all hail to T-mobile’s My Touch 3G…………
i think it’s a hot looking phone. what if you have 2 lines, do we even get a better deal on this fancy phone or what..??!!! It’s sad to see that not even the loyal customers like myself that’s been with t-mobile can get an amazing offer for this cell.
The Samsung is a really good phone…10 megapixel camera, and it has a flash! The Rose color one is really cute too.
The Samsung Behold is a really good phone…10 megapixel camera, and it has a flash! The Rose color one is really cute too.
This Phone Looks So Sweet!! I Can’t Wait For The Pre-Sale!
i have the g1 & i can’t decide if i should just keep it or go ahead & get the mytouch.
basically the only difference is the overall sleeker appearance which i do like. i don’t know
does anyone think its worth getting a new phone?
WHAT IS THE COST?????????????
I think that they were trying so hard to make a phone better than the g1 and as good as the i phone that they forgot to add the flash. Oh well just wont take pictures in the dark!!! Cant wait to get one
how much is the phone without being a member for 2 years.. i love this phone.. i just need to know the price and its gonna be next to me on the charger at night.. =]..
i’ll just wait till tmobile has a better price because im not pay 199 for a 2 year contract and plus people willl be selling the phone when they don’t like it. i will stick with G1 because they have applications and its a better quality phone PERSONALLY SAYING..
Ok I had the G1. I LOVED EVERYTHING about that phone. It was my 1st physical keyboard. I was and am new to TMOBILE. Been FAITHFUL 2 CINGULAR/ATT for like over 10 years. But now TMOBILE has opened my eyes 2 a new CELLULAR EXPERIENCE…. I dont know much about this PREORDER situation but I believe Im in… Im the type that gets bored with phones PRETTY FAST.. LIKE WITH IN 3 HOURS. But this G1 thing had me going for MONTHS I TELL YOU
Ok I had the G1. But this G1 thing had me going for MONTHS I TELL YOU. SADLY TO say I ended that relationship I just could not take THE BATTERY LIFE…SO FREGGYN POOR!!!!! got the BEHOLD and its like whatever. IM ADDICTED TO THE TOUCHSCREEN ON THE G1. AND WANT TO GET THE MY TOUCH… this time i guess if the battery life isnt up to par…. ILL GO BACK TO OLD FAITHFUL BEHOLD…..until then im waiting to TOUCH MY TOUCH…..
Honestly, i don’t like the g1 coz of the keyboard. but this one has a virtual one which makes me very happy. I only hope that it is as sensitive as the iphone. I like exclusivity that’s the reason why i’m gonna get it. but i’m still in luv with the Dash coz it has all the features that makes me happy like: auto signature, vibrate & ring, customize ur personal ring tones either for messages or else. so, i’m askin if you guys intend to get a touch dash?????? lol. i’m serious. I can’t wait…..
If you guys would read, It states CLEARLY that CURRENT T-mobile customers can get the phone for 199!! Stop being so harsh. If you want what Cingular and Verizon offer then go with them. But don’t bash T-Mobile because YOU made the wrong decision for your provider. I love EVERYTHING about this phone and I can’t wait til it comes out!
do you have a date in aug.when the phone is coming out?
Not only the phone itself may look great but what about the program. Will it freeze up like my Dash….. Effing phones cost so much dam money but with out a good program its not worth espeding your hard worked money.
Wow, the hype with this phone is nothing compared to the G1. I have the G1 and it’s ok, but not all that. I’m pretty sure this phone will be the same, especially because it doesn’t have a flash. If I want a rounded G1, I will just do it myself. I hope that they have fixed the bugs that the G1 has and for Pete’s sake add a flash!
“But seriously, I’ve been looking for a phone with a flash and these less advanced
have it but the more advanced ones don’t.”
Those of you complaining about “no flash” may not have considered this:
1 — The cheap, throwaway phones can have flash because it will
have limited usage and is not intended to be repaired/replaced when
it breaks down.
2 — An expensive phone will NOT have flash because when the
flash element breaks down (after a few hundred photos), people
will expect the company to repair/replace it — this is a big nuisance
to both the company and the customer, and both are better off
without having to deal with it. (Can you imagine living without your
phone while waiting for the company to repair the flash element and
mail it back to you?)
Oh, and one more thing –
3 — Having “flash” (actually a strobe light) is hard on batteries,
and will cause your phone to need charging more often.
Until they come up with Flash elements that do NOT go bad and
that can last for 100,000 flashes and that are not hard on the
batteries — you can look forward to more cameras without flash,
I am afraid.
well all the phones i feel are cheap,,, and sadly to say to pay so much for a phone especially the memoir or g3 touch,,, with an upgrade on your contract if the phone costs you 500,,, you end up paying 250 to 350 for it. and just t mobile’s network alone is not so great,,, you cant really receive conections when your in the basement,,, and sometimes you get drop calls,,, but on the other hand you have my faves which is ok,, but a sucky slow internet connection… for good variety of cell phone and a good connection anywhere you are ,,, att, is good, cingular comes in with just good connection,, but that is only in certain places of the united states alone
can i get phone for 199.00 i have til 3/2010 when my contract is over
i love t-mobile i’ve been with them since 2001 never had problems with them they’re great thank you
I THINK IF YOU ARE ALREADY A T-MOBILE CUSTOMER, AND YOU WANT TO UPGRADE TO THIS PHONE OR ANY OTHER, YOU SHOULD GET SOME KIND OF DISCOUNT,,,IT SEEMS LIKE THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT GET A DISCOUNT ARE NEW CUSTOMERS, WHAT THE F**K ABOUT YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE BEEN WITH YOU FOR YEARS AND PAY THEIR BILL ON TIME…..
I’ve been with tmobile for years, since I had my first cell phone. I love the customer service and I promote it to everyone I know (and don’t know) but…its time to step things up for us loyal and faithful customers. We deserve a good deal on our upgrades. Extending our contracts is no big deal as long as you keep us happy! I have five lines and I deserve to be able to afford your new phones.
HTC makes the best phones with the best features and easiest to operate. I am definitely lookin forward to ownin a T-mobile (HTC) My Touch. I can do so much more with my HTC than I have ever seen anybody do with a Blah…kberry.
wow this phone looked enticing till i read it’s features. you would think they would do an upgrade with the camera having flash seeing that leaving out the flash in the G1 was a huge mistake and it’s a 3.2 mp? My behold has a 5.0 mp with flash and works like a champ!
Cool if i let my contract expire on august can i get this phone for 199.99 if i renew my contract?
Why when you guys, make the phones you leave the most important stuff out, did you guys ever think that people would like to take pictures at night too, not just in the day time, so were is tthe flash on the G2 phone?
will be ordering it july 7 and will have it hoprfully by the 10.it comes out july 7
everything yall bitchin about is petty. if the battery is better… then im buying it. the g1 battery is shit. so someone tell me about this battery
it doesnt come out until october. we can order ir early on the 8th
First of all- boring phone. Nothing eye-catching or worth bragging about. Revolutionary- not even close.
I made a mistake of switching from AT&T to T-Mobile…What a mistake! So much worse of a coverage. I used to have a good reception in so many places, not any more.
Second- T-Mobile’s phone choices are miserable, and simply can’t match the competition.
Now, I have to pay termination fees and go back to AT&T and get the 32GB I Phone 3GS, because simply put, there is no phone out there that comes even close. And that’s my opinion. T-Mobile has a lot of work to do to get in the game. You can’t just rely on lower rates plans, need a lot more than that.
Good luck with all of your choices, and stay healthy.
DOES THIS THING HAVE WIFI BUILT IN? CUZ I WAS LOOKIN 2 A PHONE EARLIER CALLED THE SCIPHONE DREAM G2 AND THAT HAS BUILT IN WFI THAT PHONE IS SIK I REALLY AINT FEELIN THIS 1…BUT IF ANY KNOS IF THIS HAS BUILT IN WIFI I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT..
lovee it anyone know how much are they going for??
anyone noe how much it cost..?
it is better with sprint all yall losser are her wasteing time.
Ok… so here is what I know…. the PRE-SALE for the MyTouch starts July 8th however it won’t actually be in stores until August 3rd. It is $199 for new customers or existing with a 2-yr extension (not sure though if your contract needs to be up already) The phone DOES support both 3G and WIFI… clearly I am one of those that has been looking forward to getting this - I must say that I feel confident in that it will out perform the G1 considering that when they designed this they obviously looked at the original and improved upon that! *Also… for those of you who are already T-mobile customers you may want to inquire about the LOYALTY PLAN (not sure if they are still offering it) I have it and it’s great because I only pay $50 for UNLIMITED minutes — that plan usually goes for $100!! So….. with the Loyalty Plan (unlimited minutes @ 50) + Unlimited Data (web and messaging @ 35) = you end up paying only $85 bucks a month (plus tax)!!!! So much better than all the others where you will surely be paying upwards of $100! I’m just saying - LOOK INTO IT
I agree it is a nice looking phone. However, I have been in the telecommunications industry for 20 yrs and from my personal experience it is best to give a new cutting edge phone at least 6-8 mths out before you buy, unless you just have the money to throw away. Many people buy these phones because they look great but have issues making, keeping and receiving calls or sending info out. What good is a phone you are paying for that doesn’t work properly?
T-mobile has great customer service BUT they give no incentive to their existing customers to stay. They give all of the good deals to new customers OR you can wait until the near end of your contract, tell them you are going to another provider and ask to speak with their retention dept. THEN you can get a good deal.
do the phone come in any other color other than white?
Not sure about purchasing this phone right now. I want to wait and see if it’s going to have alot of problems that the other phones have because of the touch screen. Looks cool though. I agree with alot of the other comments on the pricing. I’ve been with t-mobile for well over 8 yrs now. I would think that the pricing would be cheaper for long time customers.
if u want a flash get a real camera and this phone is great got to play around with there demo and the cost is 199 with a upgrade if ur upgrade isnt 4 a month or 2 they will move up ur upgrade date so that when it drops u can get a upgrade. however i do agree tht any phone you get now days wont last mre between 1-2 yrs because they mke them not to so u have to buy one of their new phones. How it is with all companies but i like this phone and had my upgrade moved from Aug to today so when it drops i can get it. BTW they do hve a payment plan that is billed to ur accont for four payments if u go instore the 1st payment is due on the spot. but great for those who dnt hve the cash all @ once
It looks cool but do you have to get the internet and google stuff? Because i dont want to pay for it.
Phone features look great. As a G1 user I have the following concerns:
- May the phone be used as a Modem to operate a computer? many do, the G1 does not.
- Can you enlarge the font size on the handset? Critical feature for older or sight challenged users
- Has the battery life issue been resolved to provide expanded use without the need for a second battery? The G1, made by the same manufacturer (htc) is absolutely terrible!
- What consideration is being provided to support loyal customers with the ability to upgrade without 2 year contracts and full prices? I have been a loyal customer for over 6 years and will not agree to 2 year contracts, even though I have no intentions of going with another provider. These improvements would undoubtedly encourage others with committment phobias (like me) to join the T-Mobile family.
Will there be another Nationwide launch in San Fran??? I purchased my G1 at this event and would do so again - with LOW cost transition and minimal committment.
Go T-mobile!!!
i’m in agreement, loyal customers need better pricing same as the loyalty plan they offer.been a customer since 2001, and all i got was a coke and a smile, when i pay my bill that it.grrrrr…..gimme somethin t-mobile,please……
For Christ sakes people it’s just a Phone, get a Life ! Go buy a throw away camera with a flash and Please quit your bloody snivelling…. Laaaaaaate !
This phone reportedly has Windows. Interesting choice over Google.
@temag
Played with one at the local T-Mobile corporate store.. Full Android not a hint of windows on it besides Exchange Support.
hope this one has better and needed features than my G1 hope you can use as a moderm when needed
The phone looks really nice but I always give new phones some time to progress because they sometime come with defects. Like for instance it took a while for the iphone to get right. I’ve been a customer since 2003 and we never get any good prices on phones.
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
PEOPLE COMPLAININ’ BOUT THE NEW CAMS NOT HAVING A FLASH, REALLY THOUGH… WHAT DIFF. WOULD IT MAKE WHEN THE MEGA PIXEL IS BARELY AT 1-2…???? THE WHOLE THING WOULD BE CONTRADICTIVE
Yeah buddy that’s a pretty good phone, but i just remembered something, apperance can be very disappointing sometimes, just like the G1 i didn’t like it at all, i’m hoping to see a very exciting phone with a lot of options and features, not some king of phone that will break down after couple weeks. According to what i’m seeing the new 3G suppose to be surprising not disappointing (former G1). And by the way i also hope that it will be very resistible, that’s all i got to say and you should consider working on those 2 years contract that we have to resign everytime we do an upgrade, it really sucks for real…
That’s the problem sometimes with the touch screen.
WELL TO CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS WE HAVE A 30 DAY TRAIL PERIOD TO OUT TRY ‘MY TOUCH’ THEN RETURN IT FOR YOUR PREVIOUS PHONE AND OR PLANS. YEAH NO FLASH SUCKSSS!
No zoom no flash
Does the contract thing really bother yall that much?? I’ve been with T-Mobile since 2005… I made the switch when Cingular took over AT&T - ugh that was a nightmare! But seriously, I have never wanted to resort back to higher prices and crappy customer service! I am perfectly happy with T-Mobile and have no problem re-signing considering that I know I won’t be changing providers anytime soon anyway!
And if your main complaint is the phone selection… just go on Craigslist or eBay and find the one you want and get it unlocked - that way you can be happy and stop complaining! Unlocked phones are easy to find and if not, the codes are easy to get so you can do-it-yourself… Also if you look into it - a lot of people are down for trades!! For instance, if you get the myTouch and decide you don’t like it, I can guarantee that there is someone out there wanting what you have and may just have what you want too!! I’ve seen a lot of ads looking to trade G1’s or BB 8900’s or iPhone… it’s just a matter of figuring out what you want and how you can make it happen!! GOOD LUCK! I still can’t wait to get MY myTouch =)
i have the g1 but i want this one so i wonder how much it would cost if i upgrade it? if any 1 knows send me a message at nicwil14@yahoo.com
If you want something with flash buy a camera, if you want something with fast internet get a computer cellphones were designed to receive and send calls thats it… camera, internet, instant messengers, etc are just perks. If you cant afford it DON’T BUY IT, get over it, and don’t bash t-mobile because of your financial issues and situation because its not their fault. Personally I think Tmobile is wayyyyy better than at&t they have lousy customer service and reception. i live in new jersey and all my at&t phones (i’ve had about 5) would drop calls daily in my room. Could you imagine not being able to talk on the phone IN YOUR OWN ROOM?? Meanwhile with T-mobile I seldom have dropped calls and i even traveled to N.C. by bus and did not lose reception once. Personally i would choose the mytouch over an mp3 disguised as a phone with no expandable memory or changeable battery…. The mytouch is so0o0o sexy i already pre-ordered and cant wait till its in my hands…..
i work at tmobile got to play with it to and ladies and gentelmen it is one hot phone
Hey all,
former G1 user here in Virginia. I currently have the iPhone 3G on AT&T, but really love the Android concept and although I used to have an active G1 (still have it, just use it on WiFi), I am really thinking about getting the black MyTouch 3G on Wednesday. I think it is an improvement on the G1; I feel also that after nine months, that there should be better hardware in it–it many ways it’s so similar to the G1. Thoughts? Also, how’s the call quality? Reviews so far say not bad.
