Ruggedized Casio Camera Is As Tough As it Looks

Lately, there are lots of digital SLRs coming out in the market with that cool ruggedized style. And as with many gadgets before it, Casio has seemingly realized that ruggedized should mean “tough.”

This new digital camera from Casio, titled the Exilim EX-G1, has shock-resistant and dustproof exterior. And although most dSLRs these days come packed with brightly colored casing, the Exilim EX-G1 maintains its professional and formal look with its stealth black setup.

With the Exilim EX-G1, you can shoot for one hour underwater, use it in cold weather down to 10 degrees Celsius and bounce it from as high as seven feet. It generally looks like something that came out from action-packed movies without a single scratch on. In tests, the Exilim EX-G1 has survived drops from 26 different angles.

The camera is divided into inner and outer sections—kinda like a G-Shock watch. The inner part contains the electronics while the outer part has an extra sealing. Also, its lens got a reinforced glass cover and a resin ring to absorb shocks.

This camera has a 12MP sensor, 2.5-inch screen, 38-114mm zoom lens and an 848×480 movie mode. Available in red or black, the Exilim EX-G1 will start retailing in December for $300.
