‘Smart Info Engine’ Media Player Isn’t So Smart

The Cyberus Smart Info Engine Media Player sounds like something that came out from the old movies of the 1950s. But don’t be fooled because it’s actually one of the most full-features digital photo frame ever, or so it says.

Sungale, the company that made this genius, said that this device can do almost anything imaginable in way of entertainment like Internet radio, e-book reader, movie and music player, digital photo frame, RSS and Gmail. According to Sungale, the only thing this media player can’t do is connect to the Internet through a browser, which is self-effacing considering that it can connect to almost all important sites.

The device has a seven-inch touchscreen and price of $280. Now, that may look okay to you, but that’s exactly where this Cyberus Smart Info Engine Media Player went wrong. The screen is said to have a high resolution; but with only 800×480, it’s actually not. Plus, the reader only offers PDF compatibility, not even the standard epub or rtf. It’s “movie support” can only play AVI files, so still have to convert those movie files. Also, what kind of media player has no MP3 support? Really! The Cyberus can only play WMA files, and its photo support is only limited to JPEG, TIF, PNG and BMP formats.

And the worst part about this device? It sucks about two to four hours of battery life! Considering that it’s not a full-grown laptop, that’s pretty obvious reason why I cannot splurge much on this.

But hey, if you’re into media players that require a lot of converting and tweaking, then this one is just the right kind of stuff for you.
