An innovative gadget from a British technology company ensures that parents know where their wandering children at all times, thanks to GPS technology. The company, lok8u, invented the GPS Child Locator, which they call num8, that utilizes a Global Positioning System with an accuracy of about 3 meters, to allow parents to monitor their children’s location.
The gadget looks like a watch, but it’s very difficult to remove. Governments use technology like this to keep their mobile criminals in check, so we can’t help but be bristled by the Big Brother vibe emanating from such a device. However, this thing might actually work towards saving lives, so we’ll salute it wholeheartedly, and recommend it with our very best regards.
So, if the kid does somehow manage to lose the thing (or if its violently forced off, for instance), the num8 sends an emergency SMS to the cell phone with which its linked. Immediately, the parents would have a Google Maps image, a location, a street name, a zip code – all information that would be vital to a hasty search and recover, should such a situation arise. On a more typical day, the parents can send a short text message – “wru” – to the watch, and information about its location will relay back to their cell phone. Also, parents can track the device on the official company website.

Very useful gadget, love it
