The Fujitsu Flepia is the first colored e-book to be released in the market. But with a $1,025 price tag, it’s a little pricey for most consumers of the digitally enhance e-book.
Tired of monochromatic screen display, iRex promised users that they will be releasing next year a full-colored writable e-book reader. iRex is a company spinoff of Philips who has just completed a second version of the Iliad, a $600 e-book reader with an 8.1-inch display screen and 256MB memory.
Hopefully, the iRex’s future colored e-book reader won’t be that heavy for the pocket. But come to think of it, the company does promises a brightness level three times higher than most display screens so expect also a price significantly higher than most monochromatic e-book readers.
iRex, however, has not exact date as to when this colored e-book reader would come out next year. But by 2011, be sure to see more electronics company offering colored e-book readers that has even more spank than the Kindles and the iRexes of this world.
As a consumer, not that I’m complaining since more releases of a colored e-book reader means companies are going to cut down on prices. I’m sure to get my hands on one of those.
