Kindle 2 Drops Price Again to $259, Adds International Flavour For $279

I am currently choosing between numerous e-book readers and I think I might have just found the winner. By slashing its price down to $259, Amazon’s Kindle 2 might be the clear winner for this round.

What more, it will also be released to the international market for a mere $279, which is pretty cheap since it can get e-books for as low as $1.99 from Amazon’s site. The international version will start shipping on October 19, so better get that bucks ready. It will work in over 100 countries and territories although Amazon did not specify if there are additional charges for using it in a place other than the one where you bought it. AT&T will be the one to provide overseas roaming services for the Kindle 2.

When travelling, you can also download books wirelessly from the Kindle store or your archived items. New York Times Bestsellers and new releases can be bought for only $9.99.

Amazon’s Kindle 2 is launched last February, and has a 6-inch E-ink electronic paper display that provides a 600 x 800 pixel resolution at 167 ppi, 16-level gray scale. It is relatively slimmer and slender that the first Kindle version, only measuring 8 x 5.3 x 0.36 inches at a weight of around 10.2 ounces.

It has a memory storage of 2GB that can store over 1,500 e-books, and can last for four days with a single-charged battery. It is compatible with Kindle (AZW), TXT, Audible (formats 4, Audible Enhanced (AAX)), MP3, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; PDF, HTML, DOC, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP through conversion.
