Microsoft is preparing to release a new mouse, with a futuristic design and really portable. Called the Arc Mouse, it will be priced at $59.95 and should be available as of this summer.
The Arc Mouse looks very nice and comfortable, but we cannot tell for sure until we test it.

“Featuring a revolutionary new design shaped like a crescent moon, Arc folds closed to reduce in size by almost half, giving consumers the comfort of a full-sized mouse with the portability of a notebook mouse. Arc is all about the fashion edge, with a stylish micro transceiver that you can leave right in your computer and it’s available in two colors – red or black. It’s the perfect gift for the trendsetter on the list. MSRP: $59.95”

I’d like to see if the transceiver is as small as the one for the VX Nano.
Major selling point.

I can just see something falling on that mouse and it breaking right on the hinge…
they should put a ruler next to the mouse to show how small or big it is
I think MS makes very high quality hardware, like there keyboards and mouse.
Why is Microsoft unable to make anything attractive? The black one looks pretty nice, but the red one looks more like they’re replicating fecal matter than creating something worth looking at.
I essentially feel the same way about the Zune and the Vista interface.
However, it’s possible that I merely have a very strong bias to the matter being a Windows owner and hater.
this does not look comfortable to handle, and that ‘red’ mouse is clearly burgundy.
how much downward pressure can the mouse take without the little hinge breaking? i know some heavy-handed people. can you use it when it’s closed?
I would like to see Bluetooth compatability.

To be honest, I dont see the point in buying hightech-expensive mouses.
The way I see it a mouse is a mouse. They all move and click.
But this one looks appealing because of its shape haha.
I have a cheap 20 dollar Logitech wireless mouse (Using USB for lasptops)
and it works perfectly fine.
The only thing I would say is a problem is the battery life. (it doesnt last more then 3 months but I think I over use the mouse)

From what i can see, and know, the mouse should be useable when closed.
The optical device would need to be just above the surface and therefore in the nose of the mouse. As the nose is still on the table when folded, i would assume it can still be used when closed.
