When the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi were revealed at the CES last year, the world began thinking that maybe technology has found a competition for the iPhone. Unfortunately, that was not the case. But in this year’s CES, Palm has yet again announced two new phones—the Pre Plus and the Pixi Plus. Using the webOS platform, these two models will be exclusive to Verizon Wireless network.
The Palm Pre Plus looks exactly the same as the first model of the Palm Pre. It has large, vivid touchscreen display, high-performance processor and a slide-out, easy-to-use keyboard. This Palm Pre Plus’ navigation button though has been removed, which made the difference between this model and the first one. It also has 16GB memory and the Palm Touchstone Back Cover.
The Pixi Plus, on the other hand, adds a WiFi capability to its previous release. Plus, there’s the new Palm mobile support, which will allow you to create a personal WiFi cloud that can support up to five other WiFi devices.
These models may not go head-to-head with your favorite iPhones or other Android-based smartphones, but you have to admit the Palms have a certain charm to them, not to mention these slew of new features adds more to its appeal.
The Palm’s Pre Plus and Pixi Plus are scheduled to be released on January 25 for a still undisclosed price.
