Smart Black Box bears witness in an accident

Ever been in a vehicular accident where your statements do not coincide with the other party’s statements? Need a witness? The Smart Black Box by KCI Communications Inc. can be an impartial witness to any car accident.

The Smart Black Box provides drivers with enhanced video and data recording. In an extremely compact 3.19” x 1.97”, this device contains a high-resolution colored camera, digital video recorder, GPS navigation and 3-Axis G-shock sensor—all these are to make sure the device will capture everything that goes on during an accident.

The Smart Black Box will be mounted on your windshield or rear view mirror. A pre-determined amount of G-force will kick it into action to activate recording automatically, starting from the last 15 seconds prior to the impact. A GPS technology also ensures that it captures all details of the accident such as the time and date, vehicle location, vehicle speed and direction of travel.

In case you have to convert the video to other formats, you need not worry because the data are embedded in the video overlay.

The device has a pretty easy interface so users will find it easy to transfer all these data to the computer after the accident. All files are recorded in an SD memory card. The device is also integrated with Google Maps; and users can print the report with a push of a button.

No price has been released yet for the Smart Black Box, but hopefully, this could be release sooner. More and more vehicles are needing this kind of technology because of the rising road accidents in the past years.
