Hercules eCAFÉ Netbook Comes From Nowhere with Windows 7, 250GB Hard Disk

They are better known for their multimedia peripherals, but Hercules has just unveiled a new 10.1-inch laptop and they’re not going anywhere. The netbook is here to stay and compete with others in the market like, perhaps, the HP Mini and the MSI Wind.

Called the Hercules EC-1000W, it has 1024 x 600 display, a Windows 7 (gasp!) operating system, an 802.11n WiFi capability, a 50GB online storage and a 250 GB hard disk space.

Full specs for the Hercules EC-1000W are as follows:

- Windows 7 Starter operating system with Windows Live® Suite: Messenger, Mail, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker & Media Player

- 10.1″ high-brightness screen (1024×600)

- Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz Processor

- 1GB Ram

- 250GB HDD Storage + an extra 50GB of online storage

- Comfortable chiclet keyboard with separated flat keys

- WiFi N technology

- 6-Cell 4400 mAh battery

- Built-in webcam with microphone

- Connections: 1x VGA, 3x USB, 1x headphones, 1x microphone, 1x LAN RJ45, 1x DC-in 12V, 1x card reader: SD/MMC/SDHC/MS

The netbooks design has a glossy motif on the lid, chiclet-style keys and custom software to manage driver updates, webcam, and WiFi management. It also has a pre-installed OpenOffice v3.

And because it comes with a Windows 7 OS, it won’t be available until late October. The price is pegged at $400.
