Yves Behar is the designer of the new version of the XO laptop, called the XOXO. The XO laptop was created from the initiative of the ‘One Laptop Per Child’ project, who’s aim is to provide educational resources to kids from underdeveloped countries.

The new computer is a folding tablet, is half the size of its predecessor and consists of two touch screens.

The purpose of the initial laptop was to be a computer with dramatically reduced costs, environmental-friendly, and to have the lowest energy consumption ever.

One Laptop Per Child unveils thus the next generation of XO laptops, and the XOXO is expected to be ready by the beginning of 2010.

  3. GFYM says:

Why should kids have computers ?
Give them food, toys and a good childhood instead.

  8. Raman says:

    How much does it cost?

  9. How about computers for the children in this country? We have poor kids also.

  10. harmond says:

fuck technology we’re gonna fight for water and for any reason. maybe we wont even be here in 2010. its fucking amazing anyway haha

  11. urban says:

If it ran on solar power that would be cool

  12. shouldnot says:

kids do not choose where to be born, such a meaningless comment

  13. John says:

Hey Bob Frost, of course it isn’t real pictures, it’s still a concept thats why it said “expected to be ready by the beginning of 2010″. If you would care to read something before commenting you would realize your mistake. Also I don’t understand how a concept can have a sexual preference.

  14. Sab says:

Yes, this seems cool but the kids in all the third world countries Ive been to would be fine if they could just get a pencil or pen!
if we really care about kids from underdeveloped countries let just give them some food, a pen and help pay for a teacher. Realistically this lap top will never reach the poor and they wont know what to do with it until they get some food!

  15. Bob Frost says:

Sorry, I meant to say that I’m gay. I like doing men in the butt. and i love it when they do me. HARD. I, Bob Frost am a flaming homosexual. I also enjoy crossdressing.

  16. Jeremiah says:

Are these concept photos or actual photos of the new device in action?

  17. Anonymous says:

Third world children need food not computers. They won’t have the electricity or technology to use them anyway.

  18. jesse says:

You people claiming people in third world countries need feed, not computers are ignorant. Just because you spend YOUR time on the internet looking at myspace/porn/reading blogs, does not mean thats all the internet has to offer.

The internet contains a vast wealth of information. One can teach themself everything from agriculture, to medicine, or thanks to the new trend of colleges posting there course material online for FREE, they could give themselves an education, which they otherwise would not of had access too.

  19. Cide says:

I want one now! Sign me up, can I purchase in advance?

  20. mark goldman says:

The problem with the “one laptop per child” initiative is that it overlooks that many children suffer because of cruel oppresive governments. then the ones that are broke living in brazil and india might benefit but what about are they going to do when thier hunger pangs start to come up eat thier knowledge?

Food prices have tripled and they are not going down

  21. Redbeard says:

All of which mean nothing if said children starve to death before they can take advantage of them.

  22. lungfish says:

A little laptop can be a toy and an education. It’s cheaper to give a child one of these than all the school books you need to go from 1st to 12th grade, and if the public education system and the textbook industry weren’t so intermarried, every kid in America would have one of these and taxpayers wouldn’t have to pay for a ton of updated books as a major operating expense.

  23. User says:

    GAY!!!

  24. Bob Frost says:

Wait no i don’t I like doing douche bags like you. REEEEAL HARD! Douche.

  25. User says:

OMG, you’ve jsut saved the developers so much money. I’m sure they didn’t even think about these things…food? Electricity? What were we thinking. Dammit, back to the drawing board.

  26. User says:

Shut-up. Shut-up, shut-up, shut-up, all of you, the whoooole internet, just shut up !

  27. Lawrence says:

Before calling someone an idiot, you should probably learn how to spell ‘you’re’.

  28. Neil says:

I think they have these in Uruguay, they cost the government about 90 US Dollars each and are handed out to all children under 16 years old.

  29. wow says:

Dude, did you not receive any attention from your parents? You’ve got it here. Such a positive role model for the kids. Teach them spite and hate, it’ll make them stronger. Also, show them how to use photoshop the right way, so the people they teach your wonderful lessons of emptiness and sorrow to won’t be able to suck the little inklings of life they’ve managed to spawn from the concrete you’ve graciously poured on their imagination and productivity.

Fail, though. Good call. Fail was still “in” then. Way to keep up with the trends.

    $75 dollars

  31. Ohkayyy “Anynonymous”, obviosly you’re the idiot because you cannot spell, and your wasting your time saying that this intelligent man ignorant, when you can be getting on with your life, that you probably do not have. I’m sorry you’re so arrogant and I hope you recover from your stupid state of mind. Anyways, i’m only 12 and i’m sure I am alread surpassing your knowledge of respect, manors, and above all, intelligence. I hope you see this because this laptop is a wonderful advancment in human knowedge of technology, and you could probably never come close to inventing or planning out a piece of technical equipment like this.

    Have a nice life,
    Maryjane
