Walmart has a deal today, selling the Compaq Presario CQ50 139WM for only $298 and considering the laptop’s specifications, the deal is really worth.

The CQ50 features a 15.4″ LCD display, 2.0Ghz Intel Celeron Processor, 2GB of RAM, and 160GB HDD. It might not the the best laptop ever, but it’s excellent for those with a tight budget or lower needs. You won’t be able to play the latest apparitions or make advanced 3D video editing, but for some basic tasks, like internet it’s great.
Check out the deal.

If this is the first time you’ve seen this Stop error screen, blah blah blah

I have the same problem as Midnight, I don’t know if they’re is a way around this. Somehow, other versions of vista can be installed. For example, I’m running Vista Ultimate right now, but I still can’t get XP on it. Very weird, maybe the hardware is not able to run XP?
I bouht this lapotop and even not haveing the latest proserser in ti it runs great
I broht this Laptop, I installed Windows XP but I can’t find any dirvers.
I have this laptop its nice but the battrey is so short
I bought one and the laptop is great for browsing!
how do i get in touch with the company for my warrenty info? My cord is torn and my buttons have popped off, and i keep getting error messages
Most likely the problem is with the fact that it is running sata II. Disable that option and windows xp should be able to run smoothly on this machine. I cannot remember if it is called sata II off the top of my head but I do know it is a common problem with the sata harddrives. Windows xp will either not reconize the HDD or it will cause errors. It should steer you in the right direction. Hope that helps

what i am do plese tell me this problem solution…abhishekshah88@gmail.com
I have had this computer for a year now, It works moderately well. The only problem is how fast it overheats. This is a problem, because I will be doing something fine at first, then the cpu and hard disk will randomly go down in percentage of usage to not over heat. I really wish i knew a CHEAP solution, I am not about to buy special coolant for this computer.
I’ve also had this for a year and with Vista and it chugs and chokes and is quite frustrating to use (didn’t try XP install). I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and WOW! What a huge huge huge difference. It’s like another machine - the difference is so great. It starts quick, shuts down quick, wakes up quick, opens apps quick and does everything I need it to do as a hobby website and apps builder. I also run Adobe Creative Suite CS4 on it and it does decently with photoshop and illustrator as long as they are not massive ‘print’ files. Not so well with after effects and premier though since they are graphics and processor heavy apps. I can honestly say that I am tickled pink about this laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. What a steal. I would not hesitate to buy another one.
To Midnight: Go to your BIOS setting and change your SATA mode to IDE. It worked for me! Hope this helps for you as well!
Great computer but it doesnt let me install microsoft office 2007 and it doesnt allow me to install my htc magic software on it also it overheats way too fast
bought two of these, such a great price. super excited, got them home, opened one, watched movies, surfed web, played games … for 2 months. then the internet connection went down, won’t come back up, spent a collective 2 weeks of phone time with HP, cannot stand their tech support, SPEAK ENGLISH DAMMIT! opened second one, same issue right out of the box. got the walmart extended warranty, but it’s not good until the HP warranty expires, so come july 2010 i guess i might get a comp that works right. very sorry i paid for 2 of these, and wish i had just spent a little less that the $700 total, on just ONE decent laptop.
ive had this sense nov 08 and my disk drive only works sometimes and my what i think is the bearing in my fan has gone out and it loud and annoying and will probably go out soon, i called compaq to see about getting it replaced and they want 300 as a base price to even touch your computer, not worth the money worked ok for about a year but after warranty expired, now it is becoming expired, will never by hp again. if anyone has a tutorial or step by step directions to getting to the fan i would love it Cmiller7786@gmail.com
