Here’s a clip from a US pilot who was scrambled (ordered into the air from a sitting stand-still) in 1957 to chase a reported UFO. The story comes from the recently disclosed  UK UFO files, which are teeming with active-duty reports of bizarre encounters in the stratosphere.

According to Milton Torres, the craft was seemingly able to propel effortlessly in a linear fashion – and this was back in the 1950s, when jet technology was still being ironed out. What’s even weirder is that Milton was met immediately by a “man in a trenchcoat” as soon he hit the ground.

Maybe something’s up there, folks. Maybe it’s just the light refracting off of birds who fly at 20,000 feet in the air. That’s probably it.
