The PC is looking to be the strongest platform yet for playing games on this year. After the sterling launch of XCOM 2 and apart from its usual host of multi-platform games, the PC also has a whole bunch of exclusives lined up for the rest of the year, many of them indies. #10: Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

Mount & Blade returns with a prequel: Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, this time set 200 years before the events of Warband. Expect riding on horses as you navigate the tricky politics of a variety of Kingdoms that have risen up in the wake of the Calradian Empire.

To quote the developers themselves, the game will feature “up-close and personal medieval combat on a huge scale, bigger, bloodier and more intense than ever before”. As for improvements over its predecessor, expect vastly improved graphics and better artificial intelligence, along with a new inventory interface.

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is under development at Turkish developer TaleWorlds Entertainment, developers of the original Mount & Blade games. The game has been confirmed for a 2016 release, but no specific details have been provided.
