More Sapphire RX 480 Images, Specs, Price Leaked, AMD is Testing Driver Fix for PCI-E Overcurrent Issue

Sapphire’s take on the AMD Radeon RX 480 has leaked a couple of times now, but it is now time for the official photos to be revealed. The manufacturer has given out a full set of Sapphire RX 480 NITRO photos that give us a good view of the custom card. Along with the images,  a couple of details have also come to light.

An employee at OCUK revealed that the Sapphire Radeon RX 480 NITRO will be operating at a frequency of 1325 to 1350 MHz. The custom card is expected to cost 249 GP in the United Kingdom. The fans in this card are removable, thus providing an easy way to clean or replace the fans.

Meanwhile, AMD has issued an official statement accepting the RX 480 PCI-E overcurrent issue. The company said that the problem may get resolved by a driver fix soon. Here’s what the AMD official said:

As you know, we continuously tune our GPUs in order to maximize their performance within their given power envelopes and the speed of the memory interface, which in this case is an unprecedented 8 Gbps for GDDR5. Recently, we identified select scenarios where the tuning of some RX 480 boards was not optimal. Fortunately, we can adjust the GPU’s tuning via software in order to resolve this issue. We are already testing a driver that implements a fix, and we will provide an update to the community on our progress on Tuesday (July 5, 2016).

Tldr: fix in the upcoming driver
