Attention Business Owners, if your main demographic is Millennials take note, it’s time to up your Social game and start using Snapchat. The platform has an impressive hold on the Millennial market. The site has over 150 million daily active users and on any given day, Snapchat reaches 41% of all 18 to 34 year-olds in the United States.

Snapchat has been improving the platform for business use. They have been tweaking the platform for a while now, adding their ad API, Memories, improving discovery options and a providing a new custom Geofilters tool.

In addition, there’s also the reported expansion of their advanced behavioral targeting tools and the development of image-recognition triggered ads in the works, all of which, in one way or another, offer new commercial opportunities and benefits.

Earlier this week The Wall Street Journal reported that Snapchat will provide three new ad targeting options. These options include:

1. Snap Audience Match

This features allows advertisers to upload a list of customer email addresses or mobile app IDs to match to the Snapchat information. This allows you to reach your existing customer base on Snapchat by directing ads to your specific customers.

2. Snapchat Lifestyle Categories

This feature allows businesses to target users by their interests in different types of content based on their activity within the platform. If you are a restaurant you can see users who regularly check out Taco Bell and you can then target these users with your ads.

3. Lookalikes

This feature is just as it sounds, businesses upload t heir audience data and t hen will be able to create an audience based on related characteristics and behaviors.

Snapchat is becoming a contender in the world of Social Advertising. They have some terrific advertising tools and features already, including the ability to target ads by:

  • OS and Device
  • Gender and Age
  • Lookalike Audiences
  • Context
  • Carrier

In the third quarter of 2016 they will be adding the ability to target ads by:

  • First Party Audiences
  • Interests

It may be time to start actively using Snapchat if you want to reach your audience and grow your business.
