10 Android Applications You Shouldn’t Miss

Google Android is the latest mobile operating system and it has made a lot of fuss in the industry, so I felt the need to try it, along with the multitude of applications designed for it. I listed and wrote a short description of those I liked, because what would an operating system be without it’s applications ?

1. GoogHelper

GoogHelper Android

GoogHelper is a software that has a lot of mobile search engines embedded for Mobile, Images, Maps, Stocks, Shop, News, Groups, Gmail, Wiki, Software, Books, eBay, Tags, and Blogs.

The application is very easy to use and it reduces the time required to visit the search engine you need. It loads fast and only needs 100kb of memory.

2. Enkin

Probably one of the most advanced mobile applications ever created, Enkin is able to use GPS, live video, web services, orientation sensors and 3D graphics to offer you live video directions and informations of what you see in your Android phone’s camera.

The application is not yet available, but it does look amazing.

3. Phonebook 2.0

PhoneBook 2.0 Android

A secure online address book, that stores your contacts on a remote server, so you don’t lose them in case something happens to your cellphone. Also users can share their location with friends, see their friends location and initiate Gtalk instant messaging directly from the address book.

4. Twitroid

Twitroid Android

A simple application for Android mobile phones, that offers the basic twitter features. You can post updates, reply, send direct messages, search, and upload photos on it’s sister application, photroid.

5. Compare Everywhere

Compare Everywhere Android

If you ever ask if you’re paying the right price for something, then this is the perfect application for you. Just scan the barcode and compare prices, read product reviews, create shopping lists, wish lists, and more.

6. HandyCalc

This is a really advanced calculator, but it’s not very hard to use and this makes it useful. It can do a bunch of operations, so you never get stuck with them.

7. Locale

Locale Android

A smart application that can do some basic things for you, like changing the phone’s profile depending on your location. User specified locations can be created using the Google Maps and then actions can be attached to them.

8. FBReaderJ

FBReaderJ Android

A mobile ebook reader designed for the Android platform, that supports oeb, epub, fb2 file formats, features a search function, and has the option to change colors. The current version is only a beta phase, but the final one should be able to read directly from zip, tar, and gzip archives.

9. Life 360

Life360 Android

This application uses Google Maps and GPS to create a social networking platform, where you can post messages and everyone in your area can read them. You can set up a status message and read other’s statuses, track your friends and family members, access their medical information and emergency profiles.

It can really help you if you are in trouble and the advantage is everyone near you can find out what happens to you.

10. Diggin

Diggin Android

Diggin is an interactive media player, with a very nice design, that allows offers you access to thousands of radio stations. It can be easily configured and tweaked, which makes it more user friendly.

Also, it has some features that lower the volume if the phone is ringing and turn it off when you answer. Digging supplies you with informations and news about the music you’re playing and the artist.
