You might think that the financial crisis affects the whole world, but this is not true as in Dubai a new extravagant set of islands will show up. So, what’s it gone be? They already built the “World”, a Palm Tree and other exclusive islands. Well, the next island development will be “The Universe” which will also represent a new era for Dubai, an era of sustainability.

So far, the constructions in Dubai weren’t build wisely and they are looking for a change. Wise and sustainable constructions will show up in the emirate situated along the coast of the Persian Gulf. This era of sustainability will be called “Blue Communities” and…

The climate is changing, this is not something new and we already knew that. The problem is that these changes are not so good as pollution is making it worse. I don’t know if pollution affects the Australian climate, however, there are some major changes there too as rainfalls continue to diminish and the authorities have granted water restrictions as the water storage levels are getting thinner. The solution is called Watree, a concept water storage destined for urban sporting grounds.

Experts say that we shouldn’t waste a drop of water, but there are also some areas like buffer zones around sporting grounds which are unused and when the rain falls…

No matter what would you do with your house, for the moment you cannot reduce your carbon footprint to zero. However, we’ve seen lots of homes of the future which will be self-sustainable thanks to the most futuristic technologies. In the future, all the things in the world will have to be green and the home of your children might be one of them.

Here is a house project designed by Italian-based architect Massimo Iosa Ghini. Even though he’s Italian, his project is destined for a residential area located alongside Pedieos river, near Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus. Unsurprisingly, the home is called Cyprus House and I have to say…

A new project consisting of a skyscraper has been unveiled by the British-based architecture firm Atkins, and you guessed, it’s going to be built in Dubai. I guess there is no point in reminding you that the current world’s tallest tower is the Burj Dubai, and the future world’s tallest tower, the Nakheel Tower will be built in Dubai.

The latest in a series of skyscrapers is called Anara Tower and it will measure 700 meters, shorter than both Burj Dubai and Nakheel Tower. Anara will be a 125-story tower that will be LEED certified thanks to its sky gardens located after each 27-stories.

Offices, 300 residential apartments, 250 luxury hotel rooms,…

Here is the coolest house of them all! Why? Because it’s the Walking House! This house of the future was designed by Copenhagen-based art collective N55 in collaboration with engineers from Massachusetts, U.S. The designers dubbed this house as the “ultimate property” because it’s the perfect solution against floods as it will walk away from the floods.

The Walking House is based on six hydraulic legs and it’s powered by solar and wind energy. The house measures 10-feet high and it can overcome all terrains, however, like aforementioned it was designed for special situations when water level will rise too much.

Inside the Walking House you will find a living room, a…

As you already know, world’s tallest tower can be found in Dubai, it’s the Burj Dubai. Once again, you already know that the upcoming world’s tallest tower will also be found in Dubai, the Nakheel Tower. But what happens when these towers will be just too small? Well, I’m really tired about this but those guys in Dubai aren’t and they are planning to build even a bigger tower than Nakheel, the Dubai City Tower.

The upcoming world’s tallest tower will measure 1.55-mile high and it will be build as a city within a city within a city as the tower itself is a city which will be build in the…

Those guys in Dubai are just crazy, it seems like they are thinking only at futuristic architecture as the city is planning on building a new masterplan called Jumeirah Gardens which will consist of three projects, 1 Dubai, 1 Park Avenue, and Park Gate.

The megaproject has been commissioned for Chicago-based architects, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, who have $15 billion and 12 years at disposal to complete the Jumeirah Gardens. The three super structures will be built by Dubai-based company, Meraas Development, which described the project as “an integrated city within a city.”

“We’re incredibly excited to be collaborating with Meraas Development on these fantastic projects. Any one of these…

Here is something different that caught my attention and deserves yours - “Habitat Machines” designed by David Trautrimas. The machines consist of architectural structures made of household objects like coffee pots among others.

You can check out the Habitat Machines as of tomorrow at Le Gallery in Toronto, Canada, until October 19th. There’s enough time to see David Trautrimas’ photo-based designs which were inspired by “source materials which allude to a greater architectural doctrine usually unnoticed in these machines.”

David’s buildings look like they come from the remote future when the Earth has suffered a lot due to global warming and pollution. Although I like the structures, I really hope that the…

It doesn’t surprise me anymore that Dubai are planning to build another incredible structure which actually is a self-sustaining city of the future. It will be called Ziggurat and will provide housing for about 1 million inhabitants. The city was inspired by temple towers from ancient Mesopotamia and the design resembles a terraced pyramid just like a ziggurat.

Timelinks is an environmental design company with its headquarters in Dubai and they will reveal the final project at the Cityscape Dubai which will be held at the beginning of October. This new type of city will be “almost totally self-sufficient energy-wise. Apart from using steam power in the building we will also…

We all know that the financial power of the countries located near the Persian Gulf comes from their oil reserves and Kuwait is one of the most powerful in the matter. Now, the Kuwait Government is funding a project called Madinat al-Hareer or City of Silk.

The name comes from the ancient trade route called Silk Road which linked Europe and China. The project consists of the City of Silk which will measure 250 square kilometers, a rail network which will connect Kuwait with Damascus, Baghdad, Iran and China.

The architects responsible for this great project are CivicArts, or Eric R Kuhne Associates, and they also prepared an Olympic Stadium, hotels, retail…
