Monday marks the first day of pre-orders for a vehicle that’s apparently the world’s cheapest car on the market. It’s the Tata Nano from India, and it costs just 100,000 rupees – less than $2,000. Even after you calculate all of the additional fees for transportation, taxes, excise costs, and all of that stuff, the price only rises to about $2,400. A car this inexpensive is certainly going to catch on in locales outside of India; the Tata group already has plans to release a version of the Tata Nano in European by 2011.
