There’s been a good deal of chatter and speculation with regard to Mercedes-Benz creating an ultra-excellent nü-NRG vehicle prototype; in fact, they’ve been tossing around some ideas for a while now. Fresh out of the idea oven, however, is a gnarly new design that Mercedes-Benz is calling the F-CELL Roadster. The vehicle clearly resembles some vehicles of yore, but the power system is completely cutting-edge. The vehicle is controlled by a joystick, similar to the antique drive-sticks, but it couples with drive-by-wire technology. The powertrain is matched to a 1.2kW emission-free fuel cell system that’s built in to the rear. The vehicle can reach a speed of about 15.5 mph…

Nowadays, the Earth is getting more and more polluted because of fossil fuels. We already know that, but still our planet suffers even more. Although it’s not the best solution, ethanol could provide a better option as an alternate fuel as anything is better than gasoline or oil. The world ethanol market is expected to reach 27.7 billion gallons by 2012 as the interest in fuel-ethanol is rising thanks to the ban on MTBE in several countries.

Ethanol is also receiving help from many governments which have strict rules and they have begun to demand the presence of ethanol in fuels. Unsurprisingly, the world leader in the production of ethanol will…

No matter what would you do with your house, for the moment you cannot reduce your carbon footprint to zero. However, we’ve seen lots of homes of the future which will be self-sustainable thanks to the most futuristic technologies. In the future, all the things in the world will have to be green and the home of your children might be one of them.

Here is a house project designed by Italian-based architect Massimo Iosa Ghini. Even though he’s Italian, his project is destined for a residential area located alongside Pedieos river, near Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus. Unsurprisingly, the home is called Cyprus House and I have to say…

Word has it that at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show everybody gathered around the new DSe Hybrid yacht concept. What was so interesting about this yacht? First of all it seems that is eco-friendly and, secondly, it may be produced by 2009. The DSe is using a hybrid propulsion system that combines the force of a diesel engine with the ingenuousness of a solar and an electric motor. When producced, the base model might have wind turbines propulsion too, until then the DSe is able to cruise up to 6 knots and, guess what, as long as the sun is shining you will be able to sail the sea…

Wave energy is regarded as one of the best sources of alternative energy, however, for the moment it cannot be considered as the most important as it’s very hard to harness water’s energy as the currents are not very strong. This obstacle hasn’t stopped researchers to try and find a way to generate energy from the natural motion of water, and an engineer from the University of Michigan has developed a hydrokinetic generator which uses ocean’s slow-moving currents to produce energy.

The hydrokinetic generator needs ocean’s natural “reflex” to produce energy as small vortexes are created when currents flow over a cylinder. This motion causes vibrations which means that there is…

After years of unsuccessful attempts of making the supreme eco-car to fit in the crowded cities it seems that Serge Totsky is close enough to fulfill this bold project. His latest design was called The TownCar and it is a urban hybrid engine system vehicle.

The TownCar is a 5-door vehicle and it is powered by two clean energy sources: a solar panel on the roof, while the hood is hiding a fuel cell system. For better cornering, the vehicle is able to steer with all its four wheels, so the driver will be able to turn this car even in the most crowded places. You will be able to choose…

Remember how everyone tells you that your PC, Mac or laptop is not environmentally-friendly? Well, this thing could change thanks to the LawnPC. This could become the PC of the future as it’s solar-powered and wireless. The LawnPC was designed by David Veldkamp with greenness and efficiency in his mind, however, the design is also futuristic as this is what designers should do first - to develop something that people would like.

The LawnPC gets is power via solar cells which are integrated in the green grass on top of the PC. How it’s this possible? Well, those are blades made of natural biodegradable cotton with embedded inkjet printed solar cells…

FIAT is ready to unveil the long expected FIAT Crossover concept during the Sao Paulo Motor Show. The show will be held in Brazil between 30th October and 10th November. The FIAT Bugster car concept is set to hide an electric engine underneath its hood.

The main achievement of FIAT is the use of renewable natural fibers to develop the concept, so the novel material will hopefully give the car great performance and hi-speed, attributes that the electric cars have lacked since now. The Italians kept the technical details for the Sao Paulo Motor Show, so all that remains to be said is that we hope the Bugster will some day…
