To honor the tragic dying of Cecil the Lion, illegally slain in Zimbabwe ultimate month via a Minnesota dentist, and to attract consciousness to the unexpectedly dwindling numbers of the world’s stateliest creatures, today has been dubbed World Lion Day.

whether or not you’re a lion fan, enraged at Zimbabwe for lifting its natural world looking ban 10 days after Cecil’s dying, or simply wish to be extra fascinated with animal conservancy, here are five methods which you can get involved:

1. subscribe to the international Fund for Animal Welfare’s Jeff Flocken in a Twitter live chat at 1 p.m. EST today using the hashtag #IFAWLionQ&A.

2. Watch Nat Geo as of late for 24 hours of big cat-themed programming, or take part in Nat Geo Wild’s fb live chat starting at 1 p.m. EST.

three. sign up for a responsibly led safari with great Plains Conservation in East Africa and Botswana, Campi Ya Kanzi in Kenya, or desert Safaris in South Africa, all of which pay charges to operate within conservancies that go towards defending the parks and policing poaching.

4. Donate to the large Cats Initiative from national Geographic and famed pro-conservation photographers and documentarians Dereck and Beverly Joubert.

5. subscribe to Ricky Gervais and others who’ve spread the phrase about World Animal safety, which works to finish the abuse of untamed animals used as entertainment.
