Everything you need to know about the new iOS13

The next update to the iOS operating system that runs on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch is already in development. While we know a limited amount about the new software at this point in time, iOS 13 is potentially more developed already than prior updates since it’s been under development the next two years of updates at the same time.

iOS 13 is still several months away, even in beta form. However, as we get closer to Apple’s WWDC 2019 keynote in June, we are willing to bet that more leaks will emerge as we approach the deadline. More details are being unveiled such as a new camera revamp, clipboard manager or health and activity default apps.

For now, let’s check some of the rumored features:

Dark Mode

After many user requests, iOS 13 will include a dark mode for the first time, allowing for easier night time viewing, supposed to be less disruptive to the body’s natural sleep cycle. Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) design this year has a darker theme, perhaps hinting at the upcoming dark mode that we can expect to see in iOS 13. In addition, dark mode should improve the battery life of iPhone models with OLED screens. Darker colors require less power on this type of displays.

iPad MultiTools

Apple is said to be introducing a feature for displaying multiple windows in a single iPad app using a tab view. Apps will feature different display settings that are initially attached to the screen, but that are able to be detached with a drag gesture and thus, manipulated as pleased.

Find my iPhone App

Apple is working on a new app that combines Find My Friends and Find My Phone into one, which could potentially debut in iOS 13. This new service will help users find and track devices even when they are not connected to the Internet, over Wi-Fi or data. It will be possible to put these devices in “lost mode” and emit a sound later to be found.

You’ll also be able to get the location of a new device in the form of a tag. It is known that Apple is developing a hardware, “B389”. This should be connected to an iCloud account and can allow for following your shared location.

Home Screen Redesign

Having this app tile layout since the first iPhone launched in 2007, the newest iOS 13 rumors suggest that this is an iPad-specific change. We’ll have to wait to check if the iPhone can get in on the home screen UI changes.

New Gestures

In the field of applications, one of them will be the presence of a gesture to undo actions done on the iPhone and iPad. So far the only way was to shake the device.

Apple also wants to make browser experience even better and so it’s preparing for iOS 13 a version with several new features. One of them will surely be the request of the desktop version.

Regarding e-mails, Apple also wants to introduce more improvements. E-mail will be smarter and able to be organized by categories, automatically. It will also allow messages to be postponed and later addressed.

SPAM Call Block

iOS 13 needs better SPAM call blocking, it is a must for every user nowadays and is well implemented on the Google Pixel 3 family.

Last year’s iOS update did add a call blocking and identification option, but users do tend to invest in exterior apps (often expensive) to get good SPAM call blocking protection. Verizon is said to be making its SPAM and robocall feature free starting in March, and Apple has recently issued a patent for this feature.
