Ballmer’s funding mean he owns much more of Twitter than the company’s recently appointed CEO, Jack Dorsey. His announcement comes shortly after Twitter let go of more than 300 staff, roughly eight% of its body of workers, in a very public spherical of layoffs. Ballmer’s move is both a vote of self assurance in the microblogging service and probably a way to get a seat on Twitter’s board.

After Ballmer tweeted about his inventory acquisitions, Twitter shares jumped in buying and selling by way of approximately four%.
