Kaabil Movie Review: Revenge best served blind

Sanjay Gupta, known for movies like Kaante and Zinda, has succeeded in making a Bollywood movie that’s both engaging and entertaining. Rohan, a proficient dubbing artiste and Supriya, a talented pianist, though visually blind, are made for each other. The movie shows the beautiful world of the visually impaired couple, as they dance together to Mon Amour. Sanjay Gupta has done full justice in drawing viewer’s attention to how visually impaired couple can be so much in love with each other – every time they get separated for a few minutes at a mall, you tend to get anxious and start worrying about how they will find each other again. The movie does a good job portraying Rohan Bhatnagar as someone you shouldn’t pity, instead trust him for what he is capable of.

Right from the start, you get the feeling of “underdog born to win” towards Rohan. When Amit Shellar, played by Rohit Roy and his buddy Wasim, played by Sahidur Rahman rape Supriya, Rohan’s dark world is plunged into total darkness, as he struggles to come to terms with the incident. Rohan finds policemen playing blind man’s bluff. Left with no choice, he takes law into his own hands. How the blind man sets out to avenge the wrong-doers forms the crux of the movie. Sanjay Gupta has very well portrayed what he believes in – revenge is best served cold and blind.

The movie succeeds in striking a chord with the audience since the story is something we all can relate to. Hrithik’s vulnerability as a lover and his menacing behavior as a killing machine manages to impress the audience. Kaabil has what it takes to make Hrithik Kaabil again.

Will Kaabil beat Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees?
