Last Year’s Findings – How Mobile App Development in 2017 Changed Things

With the new year already here, and with not one second left to waste in making it glorious. As of 2017, more than half of all user engagement stemming from time spent on digital media occurs by means of mobile apps, a solid 57 percent. At the same time, the team of experts has wisely noted that only 34 percent comes by means of desktop use, shockingly, while another 9 percent derives by means of mobile web usage. Furthermore, the studies have found that at least two-thirds of the time spent using mobile apps, by targeted users, boils down to the entertainment and communications-focused subcategories. In other words, it appears these two areas are the most appealing to users, what they care about the most, at the end of the day.

We are an entertainment-based, relationship-oriented society, after all. Also as of last year, there are now more than six million total apps present and well within the mobile app stores. Additionally, last year’s total mobile app downloads across every mobile device, carrier, and supplier surpassed 197 billion.

Mobile App Development for 2018

This year, these statistics are expected to soar. It’s now a fully digital age. Increases in all realms of mobile users are highly predicted, practically well foretold.

Dot Com Infoway has recently launched new infographics on the mobile app development statistics 2018. They place a strong significant growth potential for the following areas: AI or Artificial Intelligence, IoT or the Internet of Things, AR or Augmented Reality, Chat Bots, and even Android Instant Apps. The most interesting aspect of the infographic is the use of examples (with stats) to illustrate a point or a forecast.

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
First, an estimated six billion daily products and regular household appliances or items are expected to connect to the use of AI in one form or another.
  • Internet Of Things (IoT)
IoT’s proposed spending is to surpass $ 1 trillion by 2020. The number of connected devices alone will rise to 23 billion this year alone.
  • Augmented Reality (AR)
The total mobile apps that will include pre-built AR functionalities from within are predicted to pass 1,580 million this year and 4,670 million in 2022. AR’s global mobile market, in fact, has been projected to nearly hit $ 4 billion before 2020’s end.
  • Chat Bots
It’s been reported that, as trend statistics have shown, more than half of all enterprises will invest in numerous chat bots this year, with many adopting voice chat functionalities within each bot, for easier user access.
  • Android Instant Apps
In this year, so far, more than 500 million mobile devices have already installed Android Instant Apps in one form or another. Plus, as of last October, it’s been available in more than 40 countries. Imagine the multiplied growth that could occur in one more year.
