Uncharted fans have been clamoring for the release of the new game in the franchise. Now, Sony PlayStation and Naughty Dog have revealed the story trailer for the upcoming “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End,” a trailer the game director claims is the best trailer the company has put out for any game to date. It certainly offers some amazing visuals not too surprisingly.

With the release of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” on April 26, directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley are ending the smart-alecky fortune hunter’s story at the peak of the franchise’s popularity. Since the release of the original “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune” in 2007, publisher Sony has sold more than 21 million copies of the “Uncharted” series.

“It’s time,” said Druckmann to ABC News during a recent visit to developer Naughty Dog’s offices. “Sometimes, a character just lets you know it’s time to move on. For me, that was part of the intrigue of coming back to this world. You never see something successful in the industry end. It usually just fizzles out.”

Naughty Dog has offered the fullest look yet at the journey that awaits Nathan (Nolan North) and players in A Thief’s End, the franchise’s first foray onto the PlayStation 4. And while Drake has found happiness with Elena (Emily Rose), the promise of a pirate treasure, and the return of Drake’s brother Samuel (Troy Baker), tears his attention away and throws him back into a life he had left behind.

That life has not left him, however, and so the latest trailer showcases the far-reaching adventure that awaits him, as well as the newcomers like Samuel, Nadine Ross (Laura Bailey), and more of the game’s cast.

On the hunt for Captain Henry Avery’s long-lost treasure, Sam and Drake set off to find Libertalia, the pirate utopia deep in the forests of Madagascar. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End takes players on a journey around the globe, through jungle isles, urban cities and snow-capped peaks on the search for Avery’s fortune.

“This is the biggest, most ambitious ‘Uncharted’ — let alone game — that Naughty Dog has ever endeavored to take on,” said Straley. “We want to do this justice. We want it to be a mind-blowing, eye-popping, sweaty-palms adventure. Everybody is bleeding out of their eye sockets to make it come together. We want to make sure Drake is sent off properly.”

“It’s a way for us to get into Drake’s past,” said Druckmann. “This is someone who knows things about Nathan Drake that no one else knows. We’re flashing back to when the two brothers were young. They haven’t seen each other for 15 years. It’s a way for us to lure Nate back into the world of adventure. As they go further, we’ll explore their differences.”

The trailer certainly indicates the series is going for a more serious and emotional tone than the more adventurous and fun previous outings, and shows protagonist Nathan Drake coming to an emotional crossroads in his life and one potential last adventure – this time with his brother Sam.

The PS4 exclusive hits stores on April 26th.
