Sydney-based Chargeasap is the first to market with its launch of Omega, considered to be the world’s smallest 100W & 200W GaN USB-C Charger through a Kickstarter crowdfunding program.

About Chargeasap

Chargeasap is a consumer electronics start-up company that is based in Australia.  The company is behind numerous accessories for mobile devices and charging products.

Incredible Charging Technology and Product Design

This credit card-sized charger is so small — nearly two-thirds smaller than the traditional charger — that you can fit it in your pocket! Yet, it can quickly charge four devices simultaneously. These devices include laptops, smartphones, tablets, and mobile devices like AirPods and wearables.

The Omega chargers use Navitas GaNFast NV6127 Power IC which shrink silicon components down to fit in these new smaller sizes. It’s the same silicon components that are found in traditional chargers. Gallium Nitride (GaN) is a semiconductor material increases efficiency while lowering heat and increasing enabling the charger to handle a higher current. GaN IC’s are more than ten times smaller than traditional IC’s.

The Omega Charger is a pioneer product because it is the first second generation GaN charger to solve the issues commonly found in first generation GaN chargers. These issues include overheating and the lack of accurate intelligent power distribution.

To solve those issues, the company has used a dense circuit board and surrounded it with high-density, thin heat sinks. There is also an industry-first graphene ribbon sheet that wraps the major charger components. On top of that is a fire-resistant polycarbonate enclosure. Together, these materials deliver a charger design that solves the overheating issue while delivering accurate power distribution.
