Blizzard recently released a video teaser, a short video that’s actually linked to the King’s Row Uprising Event. This event took place almost seven years ago. A message that pops up on the screen reads

“King’s Row uprising entering into record seven years ago. Security clearance required: confidential.”

It’s definitely a reference to the most popular map of the game. The maps have been under continuous aesthetic changes in the recent PTR builds of the game.

Also, there is a date mentioned in the tweet. It suggests that a major event is planned for 11th April 2017. The game’s lead character artist Renaud Galand has also shared a post on Facebook. In the post, Galand says that the coming update from blizzard is one of the best things that the developer has ever worked on since the game launched last year. Following are Galand’s words

“Interesting,”I can’t wait to share more of this as it is. In my opinion, one of the best things we have worked on since launch!”

As a wild guess, the oncoming event might be a timed event because the Easter is coming on April 16th and it’s a public holiday as well. Blizzard has previously held a number of events such as Christmas, Chinese New Year, Halloween, and Last Year’s Olympics, so it’s highly likely that if the upcoming update is coming, it will be an Easter Event.

What the Easter Event brings for the players, its yet to be seen. But it’s reference to the past King’s Row Uprising is suggestive of fans might be finding a lot about game’s backstory and some other past events. This assumption also strengthens up with blizzard’s recent claims about the game’s future and storytelling in the Overwatch. They have already expressed to expand the game’s Lore as well.

 As the game’s VFX Supervisor Jeff Chamberlain and the Lead Writer Michael Chu have said, they were looking for new ways to expand the game’s story and ways to tell that story. Following are their comments;

“But I think that we have a desire to continue to push the story forward because you know the game sort of exists in its own pockets of time,” Chu explained.

I know that just from us discussing it from a story perspective we have so many different stories that we would love to tell. I think as long as we have stories to tell, we’ll keep trying to find ways to tell them.”

The King’s Row Uprising Event will definitely allow Blizzard to tell a whole new story of the game. It’ll be definitely an amazing experience for all the Overwatch players as well. The update is set to land on April 11 and it’ll be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
