Blogging For Marketing | DeviceDaily.com

Yes, this is going to be a blog about blogs. Ironic? Yes. Helpful? Resounding yes. Let’s get to it. In terms of business, blogging is essential and integral to your digital marketing strategy; especially if your business is up and coming.

Blogging has come a long way. It was social media before social media. Originally, people used blogs as a platform to share their thoughts, feelings, opinions, and experiences with others; but with a minimal following. In fact, blogging from a business standpoint wasn’t even on my professional radar until I enrolled in an online magazine writing course at Penn State University. I know that doesn’t sound like it relates to any of this, but it actually played an enormous role in my understanding of blogging and digital marketing as a whole. But, that’s another story for another time.

Today, blogging has grown into so much more. From individuals to businesses, millions of people use blogs. For the purpose of this blog, I will focus on the business side of things.

There is no shortage of benefits when it comes to using a blog for your business. However, I will only focus on four:

  • Increased website traffic
  • More SEO!
  • Become an industry leader
  • Develop customer, consumer, or client relationships

Let’s begin!

Increased Website Traffic

Blogging gives your business the opportunity to create relevant content for your website’s audience. Your social media platforms should constantly be pulling content from your blog in order to drive traffic back to your site. Social media posts should include the correct website links to the blog article(s), along with attractive and creative visuals, so your followers will click through to your site.

It’s also imperative that your blogs (along with all pages on your website) are Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) and are optimized for speed. Why? You don’t want a user or visitor to click on a link that takes too long to load. Don’t do all the work of a great article only to lose them when the page doesn’t load fast enough!

More SEO!

I’ll get right to the point. Blogging will boost your search engine optimization (SEO). If your business is going to be relevant to Google or other search engines, creating new content is key. You should have a strategy to when and what your business will be posting. For example, don’t post about food if you’re a marketing company and don’t post about marketing if you’re a restaurant.

Always use keywords or key phrases in your blogs to make them more searchable!

Become an Industry Leader

Having thought-out and well-written content can demonstrate your business as an industry leader in a certain matter. By posting blogs that are designed for your market, you will show your target audience how knowledgeable and informative you are in that industry.

The goal is to become an industry leader in what your company’s niche is. The more you can show your potential audience that you are well-versed in your field, the more likely they will trust you to supply them with the information they seek.

Focus on Customer, Consumer, or Client Relationships

This last point is the common link between all of these blogging benefits I’ve gone over. Blogs create and strengthen the bond between customer, consumer, or client and brand. Your audience can learn about your brand from the comfort of their desktop or mobile device. This can help build consumers’ trust because you are now becoming an accessible and proper source of information. Your audience or potential audience likes to be informed, and that is what blogging on a consistent basis will do.
