TrueCar To Donate $1 For Every Instagram Photo Tagged #DogsInCars

The car buying information site seeks to associate its brand with fun — specifically the type of joy and excitement dogs experience when riding in a car.

Extending its #DogsInCars campaign, which features, well, dogs in cars, TrueCar, working with “change agency” Tiny Rebellion, has launched an Instagram-based fund raising campaign.

Beginning Monday, April 13, the car buying information and pricing site will donate $1 (up to $50,000) to the Best Friends Animal Society for every Instagram photo tagged #DogsInCars. The money will go towards the organization’s Freedom Rides program, an initiative which offers rides to dogs heading to an adoptive home or no-kill sanctuary.

To participate, people are being encouraged to post a picture of their dog along with the hashtags #DogsInCars and #Donate to @TrueCar. All the posts will be collected and displayed on the TrueDogsInCars.com campaign website.

Here’s a selection of a few posts so far:

TrueCar is promoting the campaign on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter:

Help us give homeless dogs a ride out of the shelter and into rescue, bringing them one step closer to a new home.  Snap…

Of the campaign and how its approach aligns with the brand’s approach to car buying, TrueCar CMO Lucas Donat said:

“This campaign celebrates the fact that dogs share our passion for cars. We wanted to align the joy of car ownership with the joy of car buying, and no one gets more joy from a car ride than mankind’s best friend.”

The campaign’s goal is to raise enough money to fund 3,200 rides for the shelter dogs.
