Vice Media Writers Vote To Unionize

Writers at Vice are reportedly unionizing.

August 7, 2015

In a surprise transfer on a summer time Friday, writers at Vice Media have voted to unionize. The Wall street Journal experiences that Vice’s writers might be becoming a member of the writer’s Guild of the us, East (WGA), and that sources say Vice is prepared to recognize the union.

The move follows recent creator unionizations at both Gawker Media, Salon, and the American new release of The Guardian.

In a remark emailed to quick company, CEO Shane Smith stated “i am so pleased with all my perfect diamonds right here at VICE. every single day your ideas and work continue to blow me away. i’m proud to toughen all of you—and as an outdated grey-haired man all i would like is for my beautiful VICE domestic to be at liberty—those writers who voted to unionize and people who didn’t. i like you all, and together we will be able to triumph over the world.”
