Walmart made its viral rotisserie chicken into a purse—and kept the $5.97 price. Here’s how to get one

Walmart rotisserie chicken fans now have a chance to carry around their love for the item everywhere they go in the form of a new accessory.

Inspired by its own signature rotisserie chicken packaging, Walmart has turned the design into an oversize clutch purse, which it will sell to customers for $5.97—the same price as an actual bag of rotisserie chicken. The quirky offering arrives just in time for National Chicken Month in September.

The purse comes in two distinct styles: The first, replicated on the Traditional flavor, has a purple colorway; the Lemon Pepper version features orange branding. Both clutch bags put an image of the rotisserie chicken front and center, and include nutritional facts and ingredient information, just like the real deal.

The surprising accessory taps into the popularity of Walmart’s rotisserie chicken. According to the retailer, 1 in every 12 customers purchases the item at least once a year.

“With more than 15K social mentions in the last year, Walmart’s rotisserie chicken has officially reached a whole new level of fan-favorite status. We wanted to celebrate this fandom by giving the rotisserie chicken its own moment,” Kim Tunick, group director of brand experiences and partnerships at the company, said in a press release. “The Chicken Purse turns that love into something customers can carry with them.”

Customers looking to pair the purse with matching accessories will also find similarly themed bag charms. There are two mini replicas of the chicken bags in both the Traditional and Lemon Pepper varieties ($5.97 each), as well as a Great Value Louisiana Hot Sauce charm and Great Value Lemon Pepper Seasoning charm ($4 each).

Want to get your hands on the limited-edition Chicken Purse? Head to the Spark Shop website, where they’ll drop at 8 a.m. ET September 1 and be available while supplies last. Additionally the collection of bags and charms will be sold in person at the Walmart Welcome Center in Bentonville, Arkansas.
