Yahoo Introduces Livetext, A Silent Video Messaging App

Yahoo joins crowded mobile messaging house with Snapchat-like chat app for iOS and Android units.

playing seize-up within the cellular messaging battle, Yahoo these days introduced Yahoo Livetext, a Snapchat-like are living chat app.

The app uses cellphones’ front-facing cameras to launch one-to-one video conversations. The video is offered without sound; users keep in touch by the use of text that’s overlaid onto the videos.

the company’s press release mentioned Livetext “blends the benefit and ease of texting, with the immediacy and vividness of live video, however with out the audio — so you can use it in any context.”

The experience is akin to growing real-time personal GIFs with text commentary. As with Snapchat, the video chats are ephemeral and may’t be considered later.
