The reports were true, YouTube has launched its very own social network. The company announced (September 29, 2016), September 13, that they had launched YouTube Community.

Per the YouTube Creator Blog, “Your bond with your viewers is deep. You’ve grown up together, laughed together, and done incredible things together, from shifting attitudes about gay rights to volunteering millions of dollars toward important charitable causes. Today, we’re introducing a beta version of a new product to help strengthen the bond between you and your viewers, called YouTube Community.”

YouTube Community allows the video creators a better way to engage with their video viewers. Through the use of text, Gifs, images, etc. this new feature is to keep creators on the site so they don’t go to any of the other platforms.

These new features let the creators connect and engage much more with their audience.

Over the past several months YouTube had been testing this new service with a small group of creators. As of (September 29, 2016) they launched another beta testing and will soon make it available to even more creators in the coming months.

Current Beta Testers, if you want to see how it actually works and use the new feature as a viewr, include John & Hank Green, AsapSCIENCE, The Game Theorists, Karmin, The Key of Awesome, The Kloons, Lilly Singh, Peter Hollens, Rosianna Halse Rojas, Sam Tsui,Threadbanger, and VSauce3.

These creators will be providing feedback to YouTube to help shape the platform and even potentially recommend new features. Your participation may also count toward some of the feedback as you, the viewer, provide feedback in these communities.

YouTube sums it up by saying, Community is a special release for us because it represents the deepest product collaboration we’ve ever done with creators like you. We started by inviting creators in early to develop, in partnership with us, the tools they wanted to better engage with their fans.
