Moto G4 Plus Camera Performance on Par With iPhone 6s Plus

Lenovo launched the new fourth-generation Moto G phones a few days ago, and the new devices have been well-received by the Moto G fans. The Moto G4 Plus has received special attention, thanks to the fingerprint sensor and better camera. The highlight here is the camera setup, which is the best in the budget segment. But would you believe us if we said that the Moto G4 Plus’ camera is on par with the iPhone 6s Plus or even better?

DxO Labs is known for testing the imaging capabilities of cameras and smartphone cameras. This time, they picked up the new Moto G4 Plus, and surprisingly, they said that the G4 Plus has got a better camera than the Apple iPhone 6s. It seems like a pretty bold and over-confident statement to make, so let’s dig deeper into the matter.

The Moto G4 Plus comes with a 16 MP rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture lens. Assisted by laser autofocus, dual tone dual LED flash, and PDAF, the sensor is 1/2.4 inches large. It has been made by OmniVsion and can shoot 1080p resolution videos at 30fps. DxO applauded the autofocus of the phone and gave it an image score of 85 with a score of 81 for video.

DxO also said that the G4 Plus’ HDR mode has got some tiny white balance issues but still shoots great still images with preserving details. Low-light images are good and well-exposed with accurate white balance. The LED flash is also very good. The OIS (optical image stabilization) of the camera is good enough when there’s ample light, but starts losing form in darker surroundings.

The overall score of the Moto G4 Plus in bright light was 86 and 82 in low light. Overall video score of the phone was 81. This makes the phone one of the top camera phones in the market right now.
