Not to be outdone by the Facebook Live coverage of the Presidential Debates, Twitter is getting in on the live action too.

Back in July Twitter and Bloomberg Television formed a livestream partnership. Announcing three Bloomberg TV shows would be livestreamed on Twitter in addition to their markets coverage.

The Twitter and Bloomberg deal will now include the 2016 Presidential Debates and the 2016 Vice Presidential Debates.

In a press release Twitter’s Chief Financial Officer, Anthony Noto, stated that:

Twitter is where the 2016 presidential election is happening every single day. Livestreaming the debates with Bloomberg, combined with the live commentary and conversation on Twitter, will create a one-screen experience at the center of the action unlike any other.

Additionally in the release, Bloomberg’s Media CEO, Justin B. Smith, stated:

We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Twitter to include our coverage of the U.S. presidential debates during this unprecedented and remarkable U.S. election. Bloomberg’s nonpartisan political coverage stands out from the crowd for its independence and quality. By leveraging the power of Twitter’s enormous real-time platform for reaction and analysis, this partnership will provide viewers the opportunity to watch and interact with the news coming from this fall’s debates as they happen live on smartphones, computers and TVs.

The livestreams will also include a 30 minute political program before and after each debate. Managing editors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann will lead the programs and will be joined by other reporters and analysts.

The presidential debates are scheduled for:

  • Monday, September 26
  • Sunday, October 9
  • Wednesday, October 19

The vice presidential debate will be on Tuesday, October 4.

The world of politics has definitely taken a new form regarding coverage and media. Social Media has become an important forum for people to discuss issues and learn about the candidates.

Will you be watching on Facebook, Twitter or television?
