YouTube Director lets SMBs film professional video ads from their phone

In addition to the new ad tool, YouTube is providing advertisers in select cities access to professional filmmakers to help create ads.

YouTube just launched a new tool called “YouTube Director” — a video ad-creation tool aimed at SMBs that allows them to film professional video ads from their phone.

According to the announcement, YouTube Director includes a suite of products “… that make video ads more accessible to businesses.”

YouTube says no editing is required and included the following “YouTube Director Video Challenge” footage to show how SMBs can create video ads in as little as 20 minutes with the latest ad tool:

The free YouTube Director business app is currently available for iPhones in the US and Canada.

In addition to SMBs, YouTube says app developers can use YouTube Director to build a video ad for their app with existing logos and app screenshots from the App Store or Google Play Store.

To launch YouTube Director, the site is offering a “YouTube Director onsite” service to advertisers who spend more than $150 in YouTube ads. Currently available only in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington DC, the service gives SMBs access to professional filmmakers who will shoot and edit a video ad free of charge.
